Which side does the TD6 breath from as im thinking if its like the drivers side, could the side vents just be removed and a mock up like this be made for short term usage??

tis drivers side but remember any water that does go in via the vent has to go slightly upwards as well and you can see from the pic that the water is fairly deep..

True, i guess when i do a service and gearbox fluid change soon i'll take the wing off and have a nice nosey around as its possible one of the pipes or bends is like the holed one for the RRS and D3/D4...

are you expecting big floods up there in yorkshire..

Floods seem to be a almost annual occurance in yorkshire, and at least 1 place in the uk every few months so i dont mind having a mash up just in case you see

Now, just have to see how i can prep a twin axle 'van(bit like nbunny's) to either stop it floating, or put a keel or two underneath for water crossing lol!

I'd be making sure all your under body electric connections are watertight too if you are wading up to the limit e.g. Gearbox and shift motor for starters .

I'd like to know what's been changed in the newer ones to make them 700mm... At a guess I would guess just the air intake, but maybe other things?

I have waded 70-80cm in the past in the FFRR, not for the light hearted. It's all about the bow wave.

I had the idea of a disco 3 rai and i was going to machine a piece of ali block so where the vent is it would be painted body colour and smooth across that replaced the drivers wing vent but with the correct apperture for the rai and i think it would have looked right as opposed to looking a bodge lol but i only got as far as getting an old vent for measurements and a big block of ali billet onto no6 Range Rover

I have since found that an rai from the side grille won't work as the pipe work inside the wing is just loosely fitted.

My idea now is to either get a scrap bonnet or wing and then drill a hole through it and use a generic rai from that with a replacement a pillar trim as well to lift it up.

Then for the bonnet a sealing mechanism is needed for the interior air inlet. Because as soon as water is bonnet high any water will wash up it an drop straight into this intake soaking the filter and coming inside

I'm thinking that it just needs a thin sheet of plastic that can fit snugly over it and seal it when the bonnet is down. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
