Fuel economy of your full fat

Chaps,

Was chatting with a friend today who has an sd4 disco, turns out my 4.4sdv8 wasn’t a million miles away from his in avg fuel consumption, which considering the difference in performance was a pleasant surprise.

I’m averaging mid to high 30’s on a run and mid 20’s on shorter trips although I live in the highlands and short trips may be a relative description, what engines are you guys running and what are you achieving?

Cheers

J

Like you, an SDV8 and like you I get high 30s on a long motorway type run and mid 20s - low 30s bumbling about. Tank range is around 500 miles of mixed driving.

SDV8 and I get around 32-33 at most on a long motorway run and just under 30 on average. That’s according to the fuel computer though, which is one of the least accurate of any car I’ve had, so 33mpg is only a fraction over 30mpg.

My all time journey record is 36.6, which will be about 33.7. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

4.4 SDV8 - drove down to southern Spain last summer. Averaged 30mpg at an average of 70mph (without stops) over 1500 miles. So comfortable Smile MY23 D350 HSE

If you really want to know what your car's mpg is, then download a free app, I use "RoadTrip MPG Lite". Very simple to use.

I think some of you will have an unpleasant surprise! As Martin2 says, the in-car calculations are at least 3-5mpg out!

I know you don't buy a FFRR if you worry too much about mpg, but it's interesting nevertheless, especially if you use the car for all sorts of different jouneys. All LR cars from 1984

Absolutely.
I bought my SDV8 for the comfort (for touring) and not for the fuel economy.

Having previously owned some very thirsty cars I am actually quite happy with the mileage I get from a full-tank on mine Smile Current

I changed from a 5.0L supercharged petrol to a 4.4 SDV8 because I didn't like keep filling her up - it was a nuisance - now I only go once a week Thumbs Up

I actually have no idea what the mpg is but the computer seems to reckon about 30, previously 20 was good. Some of my mates drive around in economical Censored because they think economy is the most important thing in a car - peasants. Geoff

Supershuttle.... I’m in danger of wandering of topic into well tread territory here but how different is the 4.4 to the 5.0 in real world driving?

I was tempted by the 5.0 for a while but the consensus seems to be that the 4.4 is the best all rounder.

There is no doubt that the 5.0L is quicker, much quicker, but I find the 4.4SDV8 absolutely fine and to keep it on topic - it uses less fuel Very Happy Geoff
