Three weeks into ownership and this car's causing me noticeable neck & shoulder pain. It wasn't obvious on a 20 min test drive when I bought it but now I've done a few 2hr+ drives it's apparent the head rest forces my head too far forwards, straining my neck & upper back. Not fun.

I want to remove the head rest so I can try and measure how far off it is. The non-winged headrests look a lot thinner. Can I retrofit them in place of the winged headrests ?

Going by ownerinfo.landrover.com electric headrests cannot be removed, whereas manual ones can be. There is also reference to being able to adjust the angle of the headrest unless the car has rear seat entertainment screens (by using the button on the side). If it's possible have you tried changing the angle? My 2017 car's headrests are winged (wings generally folded flat though) and don't push my head forward, so assuming yours are standard LR headrests it ought to be possible to move them?

On the off chance this is relevant, I had a software malfunction where the headrests moved down by themselves, if working properly they should stay where set. The software was rebooted and it has not happened again, so if the headrests are locked in the wrong place then maybe a software update could help. Only Range Rovers since 1988

They're winged - as per the thread title and the last sentence of my post ! Also pretty easy to remove by hand as it turns out, you don't need any tools or anything. I'm now scouring ebay for alternatives. Jag XF look favourable so far.

Fitted XF headrests. Seems better. Will be doing a 160 mile round trip tomorrow so I'll see how it goes.
