Not sure if it's applicable but I just swopped to SMARTY for my phone (sim only). Unlimited calls and texts and 50GB of data for £8 per month.

Yep, that's probably what I'll do, failing being able to connect the eSim in the car. |

The optional data plan (free for the first year) serves two main purposes: 1/ it provides a shared internet connection to passengers via a wifi hotspot. 2/ it allows the car's optional apps, such as Spotify or Amazon Music, to stream from the internet without requiring CarPlay or Android Auto. I renewed mine for another year a week ago, simply because I prefer the Spotify interface on the car than in Carplay. I also like to be able to continue using Spotify when I forget my phone at home. Other than those two use scenarios, it's not necessary, as the car's connected features (Remote, etc.) use a different internet connection that remains active regardless of whether or not you buy the data plan. |

The only other advantage is that there is the potential for a better signal as the car system is connected to an external aerial.

Dixy & crocs, that’s the conclusion I came to as well. Wasn’t quite sure so your confirmation helps! Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

I did not renew mine. I can’t see any advantage over using a phone as a hotspot. The Spotify interface is exactly the same on PiviPro as it was before. Also I think when your phone is connected to the car it uses the external antenna anyway. |
