Seems they were standard on early cars but not on the late ones. I’d have taken the one out my TD6 had I have known…..

It’s obviously way easier to slide a full size wheel and tyre into the empty space than it is to get it out. To be fair I didn’t find it especially difficult to get the full size out without a lifting kit and only bought one as I saw one going cheap on eBay. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

I'm not especialy strong in the upper body but it helps putting the suspension in access mode and easing the front of the tyre up and working it out gradualy. The strap just makes it faster and easier.
