Oil leaking from PCV valve

Hi Everyone,

I finally tracked down a small oil leak on my ’09 L322 USA spec (4.2L SC petrol engine).

There’s a small leak on the right-hand side from the hose connection to the PCV valve on top of the valve cover gasket. I figured it would be an easy fix!

I ordered up a new OEM PCV valve that just arrived today. But, it turns out it’s just a hollow plastic body! I’m used to the types of valves that rattle from a ball inside to only allow the fumes to flow one way.

Before I install the new part I wanted to check if there could be some other issue. Seems unlikely that a part with no moving parts would break.

If it’s not the PCV valve, I can still return it since I have not installed it (yea, there’ll be a restocking fee but it’s better than nothing!).

Could it be the “O” ring in the hose that connects to it? Maybe a clog in the hose? I hope that’s not the issue since it looks like a chore to get to the other end of that hose!

Thanks!

Quick update on this leak.

I took a closer look at the PCV valve and the connector hose fitting and I can't see any issues with either.

I just replaced the "O" ring on the fitting hoping that maybe it's just worn a bit over the past 15 years. I'll check it later this week to see if it's still leaking.

I'll keep everyone posted on the results.

Thanks,
