The trouble being Stan is most of these Steering locks can be cut with an electric angle grinder in 10 seconds. Some might be better perhaps and then also it's another visual deterrent. overfinch modified |

I use a Disklock as it covers the entire wheel so chopping off a section of the steering wheel rim isnt an option, it'll hopefully withstand a grinder for long enough or be a deterrent to go to a RR without one. First time FFRR owner |

I would have thought the most secure would be the peddle boxes, but I like having a visual deterrent. |

Get a Ghost 2 from autowatch just use the installers they recommend! Insist on Engine immobilised not gearbox.

AutoWatch have updated their guidance to installers for Land Rovers. There's a prescribed set of installation locations and install method they will warrant. The Ghost will first immobilise the gearbox and then immobilise the engine - I.e. the car will start but immediately stall when moved into a gear, and then will not restart at all. I would recommend editing the car's CCD to enable 'parking brake engine stall apply'.

Ever so slightly OT, (in famous Gremlin tradition ), but can anyone say which if any Insurers give any meaningful discount for these devices, and give examples? Otherwise, they are only costing us money and benefitting the insurers?

Your last point sort of answers your first - a system like Ghost helps prevent the car being stolen in the first place, so it's not really about discount on insurance (however i totally agree the insurance companies need to do more to sufficiently recognise risk reducing solutions customers have invested in).

Strange isn't it Ghost is not recognised by the insurers but trackers with imobilisers are. overfinch modified |
