United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Zambezi Silver
Wheel alignment

Hi vs322 and everyone.

Update on the SAS messages and the noisy steering wheel adjustment problem. The garage here has corrected this and claimed it was repaired at some point prior to their work replacing the sensor. We failed to agree about this as i have owned the car for over six years and has been silent throughout this time and has only occurred since their sensor replacement. The worry is that the warning messages appeared again "after" the sensor replacement and they had it back in to see if they could sort it out.

In fairness I agreed to let them check and carry out a re- wheel alignment as I had the front wheels alignment done with new bars and track-ends fitted which were seized up, "after" they changed the sensor. Now this may have been affected the car and throwing up the errors?

I have checked with the ii gap too after all this and there is also still a fault shown on it. Whether this will disappear after a use or I get more yellow flashing warning signs time will tell. If so we might be looking for another reason or does the car need to be told that a new sensor with a new part number has been fitted as I have seen on youtube?

I'm going through all this incase any one else here suffers a similar problem.

Thanks for following up on the issue. And glad they sorted the column adjustment, at least.
So you still seem unsure whether they Vin-Coded the newly installed sensor or not; I would encourage you to have them clarify that to you. It may be something that simple.
You may also be able to carry that out with the IID tool but have a look at the manual as I'm not 100% sure.
I've had a similar experience with "expert" ECU workshop who claimed to be able to repair my ABS module (common failure on earlier models). They royally messed it up so we resorted to ordering for a 2nd hand one. I stressed them out it had to be from a same 4.4 V8 petrol because if it was from a TD6, coding would be required. Similarly with your warnings case, the lights would go out only to return shortly after. They did not want to touch it (!) and kept telling me how it's all the same and no such thing as coding was possible. Oh and that I likely needed a new precharge pump at €300. Utter rubbish. After 20 minutes and 50 Euros at my then indy, all was good again. Thumbs Up
