'Thunk' from the back end - any ideas?

Driving up the ramps in a multi-storey the other day, there was a disturbing 'thunk' from the back end. It only occurred swinging to the right and mildly accelerating up the steepish ramps, at exactly the same point on each of the three ramps. No issues before or since, it is fine on the road, and I have been unable to replicate the noise again on the road.
Last mot had advisory for worn rear subframe bushes, possible the subframe could be moving enough to cause such a noise in specific circumstances? Any thoughts appreciated.
Booked in with my local indie next week to see what they can find. 2011MY 4.4TDV8 Autobiography Baltic Blue

The subframe bushes can cause a thunk, they aren't hard to do if you've a press (search for x5 subframe bush removal), but get genuine bushes not aftermarket c.£80 each.

The aftermarket bushes are slightly smaller and tend to slip out and that's why some people put pins in to hold them.

Also the bushes are oval shaped and go in a specific orientation. I fitted mine 90degrees out the first time so I hard to refit the correct way.

Also look at the wishbone and hub bushes, there is a lot of pressure on them so they are hard to 'test'.

My bushes passed an MOT but I noticed one was splitting when I was swapping a wheel.

Steve, thanks for the useful info. I still have not been able to replicate the 'thunk', as it's not convenient to return to the offending multi-storey! Seems to be a very specific set of circumstances that caused it. 2011MY 4.4TDV8 Autobiography Baltic Blue

Sorry if this reply is a bit too obvious or just a stupid comment.... but, are you sure it wasn't something in the back shifting around? This has happened to me before.

Good luck!
