Anyone Actually Managed To Drain Coolant On L322 4.4 TDV8???

Hi everyone.

I have carried out the common oil cooler fix on my 2011 4.4 TDV8, but still have some oil in my coolant, so I'd like to do a full coolant flush and refill.

I've downloaded the procedure in question from the workshop manual in the Wiki. The problem is, access to the area to disconnect the bottom coolant hoses is extremely difficult. It doesn't help that the hose clips on my car are oriented in the most awkward way, and there seems to be almost no room to get tools in to remove them. I've tried a selection of different pliers and grips, but I'm almost at the stage of admitting defeat and booking it in to a garage.

Has anyone actually done this themselves? Any advice or recommendations on how to actually get a tool onto that clip?

Also, I can easily locate the hoses on the transmission fluid cooler and the secondary radiator in the OSF wheelarch, but I'm struggling to even find the two smaller hoses mentioned later in the procedure.

Have you tried a pair of hose clip pliers like these?

They're a life saver for people who have put clips back in inaccessible ways.

Also for reinstalling the hoses, use some silicone lubricant - it will make the job 10x easier.

Please do a full write up with all the pictures, as this is something I plan to do on the 4.4 TDV8. On the 3.6 it was straightforward, as it has a vacuum fitting on the bottom of the radiator and also a drain tap. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Thanks GaryRR, I hadn't seen pliers like those before. I've ordered a pair from Amazon and will have another attempt. Smile

Any assistance or advice on locating the small hoses from steps 11. and 12. in the workshop manual would be appreciated.
