Found the HVAC in the IID tool menu, says the compressor is OFF.

But I have some cold air coming through and I can hear the engine change when I turn the AC on and off???

Anyone?

Hmmm, the engine note changes when I press "on", but it always says "off" when looking at IID.

Does that mean the compressor is dead?

It may mean that's simply not monitored on your car.

Get someone to turn the a/c button on and off whilst you look down with a torch. You should see the clutch engaging and disengaging or at least a physical sign the engagement of the compressor puts additional load on the belt/engine. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I can clearly hear the additional load when turning the AC on, no doubt about that.

The evaporator temperature does not fall when monitoring as you would expect and the air while a tad cooler is nowhere near what I think it should be!

I am a bit stumped to be honest.

I would get a garage to place a pressure tester on the A/C system. They can confirm if there's a leak, but they can also confirm if there's too much pressure on either the high or low side of the system.

If the latter, then it's likely your PCV and a new compressor is needed.

If the former, then you know there's a leak to find.

If neither, then maybe your condensate pipe as next port of call. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Most garages these days have an AC machine and will test the system for free and charge if it needs a refill or other work. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

You can test the pressure with the Gap iid. John

Pressure on the GAP says something like 16 (cant remember the units ).

Oh and it was charged on a garage machine that tested for leaks on Tuesday.

If I was in the UK I would take it to a specialist, but there is not many around in France!!

As an update (and more help required) I tested it this morning. 25c outside temp.

Evaporator temp 15.7 and pressure 15.3 bar, not cold air.

Recess to 2.5 k and slowly evap temperature came down to 9.7 and pressure up to 20 bar.

Any ideas?

20 bar is way too high pressure for normal operation. Looks like there's possibly an issue on the high side, either expansion valve blocked/freezing or a compressor problem.

Just for comparison, my AC on my 2012 4.4TDV8 works perfectly since I replaced the condenser and regassed it. In similar conditions mine runs at around 10bar, getting up to no more than 13bar when stationary, and evap temperature hovers around 1.5 to 3deg C 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.

I would suggest the Pressure Control Valve on your compressor has failed (common on a lot of cars).
