Anyone had this?
When I open the tailgate on the fob it opens absolutely fine, fully open upper and lower.

When I try and close it, either with the fob or the buttons on the upper or lower it does not budge. I get a click sound if I press the button on the lower gate, and a light beep if I touch the button on the upper tailgate.

If I close the lower gate manually (which I have to do) the upper will shut on the button.

Any ideas?

Mine has been like it for about 9 months - been meaning to get it looked at, but not got round to it and I’ve learned to live with it - basically have to manually close the lower tailgate every time.

My car is in Bordeaux until late September, so won’t get looked at until at least then.

Hopefully you find a nice simple fix for me

New here but in love with this car!

Mine has just started this weird behaviour too. On the fob won't open fully, hit and miss on the button on the tailgate if it all closes up. Will ask when I service it next.

mine has also done the same it works fine with the buttons just not with the fob.
Ive had it calibrated with the software and also followed this video .
But still will not work off the fob.
Any one had this fixed?

After opening the boot, before trying to close it again, have you tried:

Using the keyfob by pressing the unlock car button before then pressing the keyfob button that is intended for closing the boot (it works every time for me)?

There is a reset procedure in the manual, it’s worked for me a few times 2010 defender utility

Got it fixed at Birmingham North Land Rover (Lancaster's) It was a broken wire, fixed under warranty.

Very happy with the service.

Did they tell you which wire ?

It sounds like I have the exact same problem

Mines out of warranty & don't want to spend a fortune on diagnostics

No, it took them about an hour to find it. The fault code was something to do with the anti pinch sensor?

I don't believe it was a broken wire as such, i'm guessing a bad connection??

No - I've just learned to live with closing the lower part manually then pressing the button on the upper.

I figured mine out. It was bc the fob was more than 1m away and I was getting a mislock. Kept the fob in my hand standing behind it and it worked fine. Also Figured out it won’t close On the fob with the doors locked. If I hit the unlock on the fob and then then trunk on the fob it closes. So user error for me.
