Stop start not functioning 2016 4.4 SDV8

Hi all,

The auto stop start on my 16 4.4 SDV8 doesn't seem to function.

I measured the voltage on the main battery at 12.00v so decided to charge via the points under the bonnet.

Stop start then functioned for a couple of days but has now quit working again.

Main battery always measures between 12.00 and 12.5v

Happy to buy a new one if necessary but I'm not sure if these readings indicate it is at fault.

I have no other issues relating to a dying battery like others have mentioned on here.

Thanks in advance!

My MY16 was fairly similar and on the original batteries, stop start worked occasionally after a long run but no other symptoms. I changed both, probably a side affect of being a previous L322 owner and now my stop start always works!

Most places I think inc Halfords will do a battery health check etc might be worth something more than a voltage check? Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

easy solution,

if you have an aux battery then you disconnect the negative wire,

if you have a capacitor then you disconnect the signal wire. ... - .- -.

Hi Stan,

I actually want the stop start to work, I don't want to permanently disable it.

Had the main battery tested yesterday and it came back replace battery on the midtronics tester.

Will purchase and fit a new main battery and update this thread.

understood..

check the rear off side cubby and see if you have an aux battery in there .....if you have then check the voltage on that one...
if you dont then its the capacitor setup you have.. ... - .- -.

I do indeed have the auxiliary battery.

It's the bigger one of the 2 (096?)

And measures close to 13v but my man didn't want to use the tester on it as its not the starter battery.

Charging the main battery brings back stop start for a day or 2 but as I said the tester shows replace battery so will get a new one and test.

just to clarify,
the battery under the spare wheel is your main battery and the smaller one [if you have one?] is in the rear offside cubby.. .. ... - .- -.

Yes Stan, I've an 019 main battery under the spare wheel which shows as 'replace battery' on the midtronics tester.

The 096 auxiliary is in the right hand cubby and measures almost 13v if memory serves me correctly

New main battery fitted this afternoon, BMS reset and away we go.

Stop start now functioning on a quick drive round the block.

Hopefully it lasts!

Thanks everyone
