i put patch leads in today down the inner wing behind the washer bottle and out through the bumper vent blank on the

passenger side these will be used to energize the main battery if it discharges for any reason. i have fitted a second battery in the back but this comes in when it gets 12 volts from the main battery to put the 100 amp relay in when you turn on the ignition key
so this mod will come in when the main battery is flat and you need to get power to open the car etc . waiting for cable ends to come so I can finish the job . and also put a second 10mm earth cable from the body mount wear the battery is and fixed it to the earth mount on top of the front Strutt wear you are supposed to use your jumper leads earth

well, my connectors came last week so I will finish the job. i got a couple of Anderson connectors but was not working out as I hoped so I got a couple of welding cable extensions connectors and fitted so put the male ones on the battery side so you can clip your jump leads on when needed and then fit the female ones back on to seal the joints. i also cut the cables so they are staggered so the jump leaders won't touch each other. i have put an in-line fuse in place just in case. i put them in a waterproof bag and tucked them under the washer bottle and put the vent cover back on one more job out of the way

What was the problem with Anderson connectors ?
I would have thought they were the best termination & what I have always used.

hi alistair . okay if i fitted an Anderson in behind the vent then that would mean that the power pack or jumper battery would have to have the Anderson fitted as well to connect together and away you go. but that is okay if you are home or you have it in the car. that's if you can get in the car that is .if you are in the middle of no wear out for a walk etc and you get back to the car and the main battery has drained down that you can not even open the car you can not get to your power pack which is sat in the boot an Anderson connector would be no good. so you call out your breakdown service team that will come and put the jumper cables on my exposed fittings with a pair of jump leads. same as if you wear in asda car park there is always someone with a set of jump leads in the boot to help. because I have fitted a second battery in the boot means that I will not be starting the car from the front cables but only to energise the main battery so it will open the car .once the key is in the ignition then the relay will switch and bring in the second battery to start and the car will run off that one the cable ends are an easier way to connect on to most people have jump leads but not an Anderson fitting most people would not know what an Anderson is they would think it was a thing you built in the back garden when the war was on. new vehicle purchase

Good point Thumbs Up

As a last resort the connecters themselves can be released from the housing with a flat screwdriver, but I'd be very careful doing it with 2 equal length cables......

I use the 13 pin towing socket on ours for this with the 13 pin C-Tek adapter purchased from the club shop.

Works great Smile

Defa charger. Just plug in 230V.
Every evening in, battery always full.
Plus cabin heater, activating together with Webasto.
