drivers deployble side step not workimg

Hi Gang,

Hope you're all ok - I'm having an issue with the driver's side deployable step and looking for your kind advice.

Passenger side is fine but for the last 2 weeks, the drivers side has stopped deploying. I dont hear any motor/servo noises at all (unlike the passenger side) so its most likely electrical (i think..)

Had a look around it but all looks to be connected and checked the handbook for fuses. given its a single fuse that supports both sides it can't be that.

I've reset the systsem with IID but nothing doing - the fault code comes back as the below so I'm assuming its a wiring fault..??

Is this likely to be a dealer/garage job or something I can look at myself?

As an aside - is there a way to lock the steps in their deployed state. It wouldn't worry me if they were always 'out' Ash

Have you checked the plug from the loom to the step in front of the right rear wheel arch, not behind the arch liner?

Other than that it will be the motor which you can replace yourself but you may have trouble getting the step bolts undone.

Good luck. 2017 SDV8 4.4 silicon silver AB

Thanks Tinman,

I put it in off road height and had a quick look - seems like the wiring was intact and the plug wasn't loose (would be easier with ramp Rolling Eyes )

Could it be a broken wire in the loom or more likley to be the motor itself.? If motor, any clue as to the cost of a replacement?

Cheers Ash

Have you tried unplugging and putting some power on the pins to see if it moves? 2017 SDV8 4.4 silicon silver AB

Lots of aftermarket motors on eBay, alibaba etc.

Anyone try replacing the motor on these? How difficult is it? I’ll be needing to do the same 2014 FF Autobiography 5.0 SC

Well…. Only related to my first post here because it relates to the stuck drivers side step but…..

Does anyone know how to replace the front bracket ? Because mi e had stuck out slightly but not fully deployed, I went very slowly over a kurb stone and it broke the front bracket 😭😭😡

I’ll speak to Duckworths tomorrow but I think the bracket alone is about £200.

Anyone know if I’ll just need to unbolt the old from beneath and bolt the new one in place or is it a strip out in Teri or to do it from above ?

Thanks all Ash
