England 2011 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Santorini Black
2010/2012 Facelift Conversion with parts list & numbers

I have been searching high and low for part numbers and rough prices for the key parts needed to convert my 2004/5 pre facelift Range Rover to the newer 2010 style front end and nobody seems to have compiled a list yet.

I thought it might be useful for other members doing the same thing or considering the conversion. Many of the parts come up on the bay for cheaper, but the prices here are the list prices at the main LR online suppliers like Britpart, Paddock or FamousFour etc. Remember to give Dan at Duckworth parts an email as he often beats these prices for forum members!

A great site to research part numbers and illustrations on is LRparts.ru (thanks to member Chris595959), you can also find a mine of information on RAVE and Microcat all in the WIKI section of this forum.

Stan and Pretlove amongst others have compiled info on here for the conversion to the 2006 facelift which shows some details/issues that are shared with the 2010 conversion. From reading on here and other forums the main issue with the conversion seems to be getting the wiring correct so that you have no error codes. I decided to create a conversion loom so that I could test things before taking the car apart. This then means I can focus on the bumper modifying with the wiring all ready to plug and play. In theory this means my main focus will be on the wing tabs, wing brackets and fog light holes.

I will be compiling a complete how to including pics and plans later.

The list below is what I have compiled so far. Feel free to comment or PM me if you have a better part number (superceded parts etc)of if I have missed anything out.

I have tried to list the parts and instructions in the order that you will need to do them or prepare them. If you see anything that needs changing or improving on here just PM me and I will amend it.

Tom

FRONT END CONVERSION PARTS starting from top to bottom:

Headlight RHD LH (non adapt) LR026154 £481 +VAT (possibly grey plastic), LR028480 £670 +VAT (possibly black with no lower reflector), LR010824 £710+VAT, (LR010821 superseded by 26154)

Headlight RHD RH (non Adapt) LR026139 £506+VAT (possibly grey plastic), LR028469 £670 + VAT (black without lower reflector), (LR010815 superseced by 26139)

NOTE: There are many versions so waiting for advice on which are which as the microcat I am using does not explain. I am looking for the 2012 black version as in the pic below. Unless your car is set up for adaptive headlamps you might as well get the non adaptive cheaper ones. If you fit adaptive it should not be a problem but they will not turn as you steer. I don't know if the new adaptive lights are compatible with the 2006-9 systems. My conversion is based on the non adaptive headlights.

HEADLIGHT WIRING

On some models you will need a connection adapter and aftermarket module or rewire to stop flickering etc. if converting from pre 2006 model. On my 2004/5 (54) model i found that the headlights and rear lights worked fine with no flickering. They did flicker for a short period on start up but this can be switched off via the hot and cold monitoring settings using an IID tool.

Headlight wiring plugs come up on ebay for around £45 used with the wires. You need to wire them in the following way.

2010 HEADLIGHT PIN CONNECTIONS (from a 2002-2006 plug)

Note you will need to connect the pin 4 and pin 16 together to the sidelight live in order for the circuit to work.

1 - ANGEL EYE/SIDELIGHT EARTH - From Earth on 2002 sidelight
2 - INDICATOR EARTH - From Earth on 2002 indicator
3 - INDICATOR LIVE - From Live 2002 indicator
4 - ANGEL EYES/SIDELIGHT LIVE - From Live on 2002 sidelight
9 - XENON EARTH - From 2002 pin 7
10 - HALOGEN LIVE - From 2002 pin 9
11 - XENON LIVE - From 2002 pin 6
12 - HALOGEN EARTH - From 2002 pin 8
16 - ANGEL EYES/SIDELIGHT LIVE - From Live on 2002 Sidelight

The 2006-2009 version already has the same headlight plugs but the wiring needs to be changed around.

HEADLIGHT CONVERSION LOOM

You can purchase the 2002 headlight (male) bulkhead connector and wire this in to the 2010 connector to create a conversion loom:

http://www.simtekuk.co.uk/product.php/rove...:::2104237

If you need a resistor then you will need to add this between the plugs. The indicator and side lights will need to be wired in using automotive waterproof connectors either 2x2 pins or a single 4 pin such as:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180913151414?ssP...1439.l2649

( you will need 2x 2 pin connectors for each side)

I have completed a loom and it all works fine on the car, plug and play ready for the conversion!

REINFORCEMENT BAR / CRASH ARMATURE MODIFICATION OPTION

Although many on here recommend changing the armature/crash bar to the newer type you can modify the old bar to fit. The key difference is the position of the fog light recesses, which can be opened up on the old bar. See the following post that shows the areas that need cutting.

http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic9699.h...conversion

PDC LOOM ADAPTION

The PDC sensors on the 2010 bumper are completely different to the 2002 versions in both fitting and their connectors. You can buy the new style PDC loom to fit the new style PDC sensors and new fog light connectors but you will need to rewire the connection plug to the car I am in the process of configuring the wiring so that the plug can be replaced with a single or couple of automotive waterproof connectors. I will only know this once I remove the bumper off the car to inspect. The good news is that this can be finished off after the conversion as it is not essential to have the front sensors working when driving the car.

The following microcat drawing shows the parts.

WASHER RESERVOIR TANK UPGRADE

For 2002-2006 cars the water tank is different and has a weaker pump system due to it having wipers. On the newer models without the wipers the jets are more powerful. I'm guessing you only need to change the tank and pumps. Correct me if I am wrong. I have provided the part list for the tank, pumps sensor etc. You might be able to reuse some fixings and maybe the sensor.

It is now an MOT requirement for headlight washers to work so it is important that this is not skipped but I do believe some members on here have kept the old system which will work but not as a powerful jet.

Water Reservoir Tank DMB500170 £24.55 +VAT
Pump DMC500020 £20+VAT to supply windscreen jets
Pump DMC500040 £26.69+VAT each need 2 (supply bumper jets)
Washer pump gromet AFU4506 £1.79 +VAT need 3 to link pumps to tank
Tank Sensor DMI000010 £21.45+VAT (might be able to use the old one)
Screws WYP000010 25p +VAT each need 2 to fix tank in place (can reuse the old ones)

Here is the Microcat diagram showing the pump system. If you have a 2006-2009 car then you system should be the same as the 2010 onwards system.

REAR LIGHT CONVERSION

The 2010/2012 cars have LED rear lights which are much lighter units than the old ones. You will need to remove the old lights and potentially drill two new holes for new washers that the new lights will slot into.

REAR LIGHT RESISTOR MODULE
Depending on the year of your car it may or may not need a resistor to prevent flickering of the lights as your car ECU tests the bulbs, high speed indicator and fog light issues.

If your car continues to flicker the lights and or the indicator works in high speed or your rear fog light is always on then you will also need to get new connectors and a resistor module to correct the issues.

You might be able to fit them without drilling new holes, but the fit might not be as tight.

Lights can be bought on the bay for about £300-350 a pair (2012 black versions).

The IID tool will be able to switch off the LCM checking (hot and cold monitoring) which should stop the flickering, but I am not sure it will cure all issues like double speed indicator flashing.

Another thing to do is to change the bolts that fix the rear lights in place. The newer bolts from Land Rover have a round casing which prevents thieves being able to steep the lights. This seems to be a common theft issue and for few pounds it gives peace of mind. The M6 handle screws are part number: FYP106392 and cost about 40p each. You will need 4, 2 per side.

I will add and amend the list as I go on. Tom

I agree it is odd that prices for the headlamps seem to be different. You can check the prices using the part numbers on famousfour, paddocks or britpart etc. There have been a few replacement part numbers as newer models are released and I will be checking what the differences are. Some lights have silver lower reflectors (for turning lights) at the front, others don't (see photo below). The newer ones have black plastic rather than dark grey, some are adaptive, others not. I need to get the part number for the 2012 black edition non adaptive lights with the silver lower reflectors.

The headlights and rear lights have LEDs indicators and sidelights which cause issues with the older Light Control Module so they have "disco light' effects when switched on and the indicator will often flicker at double speed.

You can buy aftermarket modules some with resistors and some without that link the old wiring to the new light and simulate the resistance so the light works properly with no bulb out warning lights.

They sometimes come up on the bay. Tom

I've not asked Dan for the full kit but I have asked for prices for some bits and I don't think he is able to match some of the online prices. I don't think that there is a single best supplier as some dealers offer some parts cheaper on some and more expensive on others. It is worth shopping around for the parts over £20. Tom

Hi Andy,

I am sure it is possible. If you go the lrparts.ru site and click on the microcat section you then need to find the part you want, click on the microcat code next to the illustrated part to get the LR part number, then search for that on google. It will usually then come up with the suppliers and pricing or sometimes a listing saying it has been superseded and give you the updated LR part number. That is what I did for the above parts list.

If you do it, set up an additional listing on the forum so that people can contribute and use it as reference.

I bought a kit from one of the conversion companies "darn Sarf" and paid £2300 inc. VAT. This did not include rear lights, nor the newer crash bar which cost me £149 from LR. The kit did include the light adapter boxes (£150 if bought separately). Try this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Range-Rover-2010...564b715c3b - which is the full package including resistor boxes £2495+ VAT = £3000. Fitting extra, obviously but at least you know everything is there!

There are a few companies selling the whole kit, and depending on what you can find at the breakers etc it might be an easier option. The prices in my list are for new. But so far I have collected a few bits and bobs at well below these prices as used or 'removed off showroom car" so should be able to get all parts needed with a mix of used and new for just below the £2k figure all in. The other benefit is that I don't have to shell out in one go, I have been collecting for months so it hits the wallet in a more balanced way.

Examples I have obtained so far are pair of rear lights 2012 edition £330, front grill £65, Front RH light £170, 2010 alloys £300 for the set etc.

Remember many of the kits do not sort replace the washer pump and reservoir which is needed on the 2002-2005 version as the old system is not powerful enough for the jets to work properly (or so the research I have conducted seems to indicate). Tom
