I agree Kevin, and it was with that logic I replaced all bushes and front arms on the driveway and jacked up the arms with deflated airbags.
I mention the need to replace my non-genuine arms and bushes in case I was wrong in doing that. Others have no issues with those parts, so was surprised they did not last long.

Im watching this thread with interest… Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

I've done all the front with Lemforder parts because they were meant to be the original supplier. Who knows, but at least they are made in Germany and not Chinese rubbish. [He says hopefully].
I've used Genuine parts on the rear except for the lower arms. At about £900 for a genuine one!!
I've also spent a fortune on some Genuine rear subframe bushes, only £289.64!!! which I'll be fitting later on.
My wife says I'm keeping the car now until I'm put in my coffin. Rolling with laughter

Progress on the rear has been very slow mainly because of the amount of corrosion and scale on the rear subframe. I just couldn't bring myself to put shiny new arms on and leave all that crud.
With the old arms off I could get to the subframe and with a flexible shaft in my Dremmel I have ground every bit I could get to down to shiny metal, applied rust eater and painted the whole lot.
The scale was so thick, about 3mm in places.
I have also ground all the rust bubbles off the back of the brake back plates and treated them the same.
With what I've read about people having rotten subframes and brake back plates I might have gone a bit OTT but it's nice to know all should be well for the rest of the life of the car.
And who doesn't like having a clean bottom. Rolling with laughter
