Sdv8 resonance/vibration.

Glad to say my front anti roll bar knock seems to have been sorted.
Unfortunately, I still have a strange resonance at around 1300 rpm whilst under load from the nearside.
Just wondering how many others are having a similar issue and any definite fixes, it's going back to dealers for second time with this fault this week!
So far it's been back every week I've had it:-(.

I have had the resonance from day 1 too.

I think it is harmless so I have just ignored it.

There is a service bulletin on this website somewhere saying it is of no consequence:-

www.landrovertechinfo.com/

I can't find my user name right now to get the details but I suggest not to worry too much.

Thanks everyone. Yes there is bulitin on this resonance problem. The fix is to bend the heat shield away. Simple.
All sorted now, lets look forward to trouble free motoring......

Knocking

The knocking is a known problem although you will not find JLR admitting to it. There is a TOPIX bulletin on it. I had it within a week on my MY14 SDV8 Autobiography. It seemed to happen more often when going over one pothole (rather than both front wheels) and it seemed to happen a split second after the "bump" if that makes sense. I was dubious going to the main dealer and trying to explain this. Luckily the experienced RR technician in the workshop went out with me and confirmed the issue. What followed was an 8 day stay in the workshop for the vehicle while he went through all of JLR bulletin on the issue (6 pages) which started off with checking the torque settings on all suspension nuts (as you would expect 100% ok) and ending up with replacement of the active anti-roll bar (they call it the ARC). I'm not an expert but it is the anti-roll bar that fits across the vehicle and has within it various dampers, compensating actuators etc. Apparently they are on the third generation of the ARC on the L405 although the technology has been on the Sport for a while (and had its problems). Whether they have it 100% sorted or not I can't say but it cured my problem. It was something to do with air in the high pressure system as the computer tries to deal with a pothole on one side. It gets out of sync and air meeting hydraulic fluid causes a knocking as the computer tries to "catch up " with the problem, hence the apparent delay in the noise. Does all this make sense to someone?
Good luck. MY15.5 SDV8 4.4 A/B FFRR Mariana/Ivory
Ten other FFRR since 2002 either traded in or taken back by JLR
