Good day chaps,
Thought I’d update you to let you know I am now very much the proud owner of my 2012 Vogue, complete with decent service history, a book of bills and a short list of things to do over the coming weeks.
The good news first: alternator and a/c compressor have already been done, as has the blower motor. Recent bills from the MD were for DPF regens, the previous owner didn’t drive the car much and as such, it was clogging up regularly. I’m a motorway driver and have already noticed the first regen during a drive - that hot exhaust pong on getting home!
The bad news: oily smells, but thankfully nothing dripping on the driveway at home. The oil pipe O-rings are ordered and will be changed as soon as they arrive. Around the oil cooler itself is a bit messy, but nothing is wet with oil, so I’m guessing it’s just old accumulated gunk. A clean up and monitor will tell more… Brakes are a disgrace and will be replaced completely (what’s the current trend for discs/pads?) as will control arms / ball joints up front as she’s a bit jittery and sloppy in the corners and the front tyres are nicely bald on the outer edges. I’m also going to change the rubber hoses as a matter of precaution, there’s a bit of gunk around the hose/throttle body that will need investigating. MAPF is clean though…
Apart from that, not a bad list of problems I think you’ll agree, she’s in perfect nick inside and out and everything works as it should. I’m already averaging 32mpg (mix of country roads and autobahn blasts) and even the mrs has started demanding we take the Rangie when we’re out and about.
Photos to follow once she’s had a good scrub (the Rangie, not the mrs) and polish.
More soon,
FMG
