Tracking for the L322 2010-2012 TDV8

H everyone

I'm looking to having my FF tacking done again after a few years but this time have become aware that they do req. the full 4 wheel option and they need to be set in a "tight mode setting". Maybe that was done last time, may be not? Any way I think I found that my Gap11 tool can be used to set and unset this and if I'm right should be OK: under servicing.

Seems that the 4x4 charge by the national name companies is running at £85 so any comments from folks who have had to do this greatly appreciated. Good to know what you are talking when at the garage! I'm sure the last one I used said my wheels fixed at the back? Tyre wear has been OK I thing. Had this done at Halfords on a different car many years ago after a repair and the front tyres on it needed replacing two weeks latter.

Edit: no he said fixed axle?

cheers

Not sure if they still do it but Kwik Fit did a deal where you got 2 years of checks and adjustments for just over £100.
This was on hunter kit and worth doing when you consider how fast these things eat suspention bits

I can also vouch for KwikFit doing a proper 4 wheel alignment. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Some may do, some may add bits of cardboard under the wheel pods to get the alignment in spec.
Apparently.

Stay away from 'supertrack' it's not at all accurate, we have it and it is a pain to use as the wheel sensors rely on friction and gravity. I measured mine three times, with three different results - with no adjustments, In the end I took it to where the Mrs. works, they have Hunter kit which I've used before, it is reliable and provides repeatable, accurate measurements.

It may well have been mentioned before, use https://alignmycar.co.uk/ Before you look at the price for a comprehensive alignment check & adjust, think of how much just one tyre will cost due to incorrect geometry.

Hunter is the best but also be aware that adjuster bolts may be seized and the garage may decline to adjust for fear of destroying the nuts and bolts so I'd make sure they are all freed up before booking it in. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Check with your local Kwik Fit as there are still a few scattered across the country that haven't been updated yet.

Also remember that the kit is only as good as the person using it.

Your IID tool can indeed put your car in tight tolerance mode.

I had one seized so they just did the best they could to get it to within parameters.

I would give the boys I linked to a call. Very knowledgable and does a lot of 4x4's. I was really happy with the service (took them over an hour) and the boss is on site so happy to chat to you ref anything.

When I had an alignment check the conversation went quickly from we 'need' to align the rears to 'it will be OK as it is' when they saw the adjusters.... 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Good point JayGee

Just goes to show that you do need a bit of research before handing over your keys, and at £80/85 at a time. Equally by taking an hour and with the best equipment used to do it right then fair enough.

Thanks to all Thumbs Up
