i think so long as you keep photos of the conversion before during and after that will ensure that those potential buyers know that it was only done for the love of the car and not to hide the fact it had been in a accident.....i would say it withy out a doubt adds value but how much must depend on what the buyer sees it worth "RANGEISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED"

I don't think that sort of mod adds any value when selling on the car. However I would imagine it makes the car easier to sell as it has something extra compared to a car of the same age etc. I've spent nearly 3k on wheels, interior and tints and my car is still worth the same as it would be without these improvements. I only made the changes as I intend on keeping the car for a good 3-5 years and I wanted em. FFRR TD6 HSE

I agree with you all. I don't think putting a 2010 front on a 2003 car would make it worth more than the combined sum of car and conversion so therefore it doesn't add value in pure financial terms. Would it help to sell the car - given the choice of the exact same car with or without the conversion, would you pay even a little bit more for it? I think even the most hardened sceptic would say yes.

im sure the right person would pay more for that car than the same car with the originol front and for those like ric who dont feel its worth anything more well thats fair and as he said his opinion as they would only be intrested in buying the model they want so in fairness are not the market this car would be aimed at... for people like myself who dont have a spare £80,000 sitting in the bank but do have a pre 2010 range rover and want that look then fairplay to you i for one am all for it...........ive been searching the net for cars with the conversion for sale and they seem to be asking for £6k more than the same car without it....the key word being ASKING "RANGEISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED"

I think the conversions look really good and I can totally see the benefit in buying an older car that's in great shape with lots of life left in it and doing this.

I don't have an issue with people upgrading the look of their older cars to the newer model. It is exactly what LR did, the car is essentially the same as a 2003 with a few mechanical and cosmetic upgrades. On the other hand trying to make a P38 look like a L322 is way wrong....

The wheels, chrome door handles and window tints were all on the car when I bought it. The car is in immaculate condition throughout and I paid £9,600 for it; the only two faults being a slight scuff on the rear o/s wheel and very slight wear on the drivers side bolster. Full service history 103k miles. I had to fix a leaking trans pipe which I knew about and cost £150. I also had the car checked over by LR and other than a lower ball joint they gave it a clean bill of health. So with the conversion and the other bits it stands me in about £13,700.

If you don't mind opinions I would say the chrome stuff detracts from the 2010MY look, and to the trained eye flags it quickly as a fake, not helped by the Range Rover Sport Stormer wheels.

Yeah it is a bit "chromy" but when I look closely where you can see inside the door pulls at the bits of the old door handles you can see that they are really badly faded underneath. That's why the previous owner changed them - I've noticed how bad they look on other older RR's as well. I quite like them though. If my Brother comes over this week in his dark blue 11 plate TDV8 I'll try and get some side by side pics. |

Likewise - it devalues the car for me. |
