If you have the old style connectors then replace them as they will fail at some point. Either buy the updated ones or just cut some silicone reinforced hose up for a good as fix but way cheaper. If the throttle elbow seal is not leaking just leave it IMO but keep an eye on it. Clean the map sensor every oil service. The soot / oil gunk builds up no matter how you drive as the EGR valve is open most of the time and the turbo leaks oil ( they all do) but if you change the oil more regularly than the official intervals it will have less soot in it to add to the gunk load. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

Swap out the 4 hoses for silicone ones. Loads of threads on this. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Well, after a bit more digging, I found the throttle body gunk was simply due to the plastic flange not being properly seated on the throttle body itself. After careful removal and cleaning of the whole assembly, it’s all back together and thanks to a length of ultra-fancy high-temp silicone sealing tape, the whole thing is a tight as a badger’s and there are no more audible air intake leaks.

I’ve recently done the lot on mine - throttle body was hard to come by, I also cleaned a load of gunk out of the donut and various connections.
