Be very careful in accepting a non-Pilkington screen.

My previous FFRR had had its windscreen replaced with a non-Pilkington screen and the thickness of the glass apparently varies - the auto wipers and lights then didn't work properly, which was really annoying. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Can anyone tell me the best tool to get those off? I have tried a small “windscreen wiper puller” but it’s not man enough.

My wipers come off but that damn super washer thing will not!

All tips welcome!

When I removed mine I used a 3 fingered puller (small) I soaked it for a couple of days in WD40 as I was working on It and I had no worries with getting them off.
I know that you need to get the screen out in a hurry.....sorry just thought i would give you my experience of the removal, that's what these forums are about and I've learnt so much since I've been a member, so thank you everyone.

You need to get the puller tips as far in as possible, pulling on the outer edges only flexes the washer which causes it to lock up on the spindle. try tapping a deep socket over the spindle to percussively release the washer. Just.... don't hit it too hard.

So I'm guessing at this stage you have windscreen fitted...did the auto lights and rain sensor work on the aftermarket screen?

had same problem, got. call during the fitting, 'cant get wipers off' I asked them to spray them, and wait a while. they said they'd try without taking them off. so they sort of wrestled the black moulding away enough to do it. so, they are still stuck on! but I got a Pilkington, and the job went very well. I just reminded myself I need a few of the black clips that hold it down. anyone got the part number I need to look for?

edit. I also just realised that during the summer weather I get an occasional random single sweep of the wipers. it makes me jump, as the wipers are dry and vibrate. possibly a rain sensor positioning problem, since the fit, (auto glass) I can live with it. but any tips?

CYC000010 is the number i used a few months ago.

Sensor is not working as it was!

So it takes a lot more water for it to come on in intermittent mode, to the point where it’s unsafe if you purely relied on it and there is no difference in the intermittent settings so I’ve raised a complaint with Autoglass(I know lots of you told me it would be this way!,) so starts the inevitable long journey that others on here have experienced!

It feels like it’s out of calibration or that it’s out of position, it could be as people suggested a difference in glass thickness? Or a different position in the Color band or hearing elements as they look different to the pilkington screen

Also one of the side trims rattled at 70mph, so need to get that sorted as well. L322 TD6 2003

There’s a video on the post i put up about aftermarket windscreens that show a fix with some red/green wires that have become pulled apart in the sill channel drivers side. (3 or 4 ) wires.
A few other members have fixed their auto lights and auto wipers via the video

Autoglass turned up with an expert, took a look at it. Smiled, undid the sensor assembly and stuck it back together….and to my surprise it all worked. Apparently they had not connected the sensor to the windscreen the first time, just the mount!

The trim they’d fitted was broken and replaced, one week since it was all done and surprisingly it all seems to be working fine L322 TD6 2003
