Replacement Air Suspension Compressor - SDD Coding?

Whilst removing the LPG from my L322 I've purchased a replacement EAS compressor in the metal tortoise shell to go where the LPG tank was.

I noticed when the compressor was advertised that it was a new compressor date stamped July 2020 and had the Arnott logo on it.







I looked up the compressor on the Arnott website and found these:

An installation manual that says that you need to replace a relay as well:

Does anybody know:

1. Is the relay just a new relay the same as the LR one or is it uprated?
2. What is the ECU update? Is it something I can do with my IID tool if I purchase a firmware update from GAP?

Not sure regarding the relay.

I looked at my compressor when I had an EAS issue and saw it was an AMK, but the software listed on the IID was Hitatchi.

Its somewhere in the Suspension menus on the tool.

I changed it using the IID and no problems in that dept since Thumbs Up

The relay change is 'standard', not just on LR stuff, it's basically to ensure there is no volt-drop in the supply to the compressor that may lead to early failure. As most compressors are / were changed due to some sort of problem, it makes sense to change the relay at the same time. It should just be a 4 pin 70A one.

There’s nothing wrong with mine other then it’s been butchered and split into individual components and distributed around the spare wheel well when someone fitted the LPG.

If the compressor arrives first then it can be swapped out and I’ll swap the relay when I can.

Pete,

I started to trouble shoot a misfire that only occurred when my car was cold. Did all the usual checks and was going to ignore it.

I then removed the valve covers to replace the gaskets and stop an oil leak. Whilst the valve covers were off I checked the valve clearances and noticed that on quite a few of my valves I had zero valve clearance.

I then stripped the whole thing down and remove the heads and you can noticeable see that some of the inlet valves have recessed further into the heads then they should've done.

The AJV8's have soft valve seats and valve seat recession (VSR) is quite common when running them on LPG. My car had flashlube installed on it but all that does is delay the inevitable rather then prevent it.

I shopped around and had a couple of quotes in the region of £2k to replace the seats in my heads with hardened ones.

I bought a brand new set of genuine LR cylinder heads on eBay for £700 and was going to fit them. I then noticed when stripping it that my cam journals were all bruised so the new heads were definitely required. I then decided that as I'm doing 5k miles a year spending £2k on top of the £700 I'd spent on the new heads just wasn't worth while.

So... I've removed the entire LPG kit and have advertised it for sale. It's a complete sequential LPG kit with 2 nearly new reducers, ECU, Flashlube kit, all the wiring, all the pipework and a full tank of LPG!

Bringing this topic back up as my problems are becoming more and more...

Recognized recently that the right side is a little bit lower, so I did some measurements and found out that the right side is indeed 2cm lower. Decided to bring it to the workshop to calibrate. As it turns out, calibration is not possible because the compressor is too weak. So they gave me an offer for exchanging the compressor, € 1300,- and this should solve the problem.

That's too much, so I decided to take this on my own. Three questions came up when doing a little research on how this needs to be done.

1) Is there a significant difference between the Arnott P-3232 and the P-2646. P-2646 is € 150 more. Arnott should supply decent quality, so I thought of buying one of these

2) Will I need an IID Tool or similar for calibrating, ECU flashing, SDD coding,...

3) I am not so sure if this is really the compressor....It could also be that one of the bags is leaking, so that even a new compressor will not improve the situation. Am I right?

Okay - so I went for the P-3232 and ordered the IID Tool as it might come in handy more often

Only question remaining is which setting is correct for the Arnott..Hitachi or AMK? TDV8 4.4 MY2012 Vogue Trim
