Just out of curiosity what are the symptoms / error? Given it’s on back order might mean it’s fairly common. Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Hi thanks for getting back to me. My symptoms were a restricted performance warning every time i took car above 2800RPM. This is when secondary turbo should kick in but as the valve is faulty it was triggering a fault resulting in restricted performance mode. This was confirmed by a reputable independent LR specialist. The first garage I went to wanted £8100 to replace both turbos needless to say I wanted a second opinion and they told me after much investigation it was the "Turbine Valve" on the secondary turbo. This was confirmed in March 22 and as of today I am still waiting for them to get in touch when they receive the new valve. I contacted LR myself re the valve and they said I could order (and pay) for one but could not give me a delivery date. |

Not sure if the engine operation changed that much between the L322 and L405 from 2012 model to 2013

So latest update on my turbo issue. Having been told I would have to wait forever on the part I need I decided to try for a used one from an online breakers. Got reply from a well known one via a phone call. Basically telling me that this part would not solve my issue. They guy said I had carbon build up on the veins on my VVT and only solution was to remove the turbo and have it completely refurbed (cost between £295 and £495). I suggested to him that it was only the primary turbo (Drivers side on RHD) that was a VVT and the secondary was a "normal" turbo. He then said if one was VVT then both would be. I am now completely confused.

You are correct. Only the primary is a VGT (variable geometry turbocharger) and this is the offside one. Secondary is fixed vane type and this is the nearside one. Kev
