No reason at all why you can’t leave in plugged in whilst you are not using the car, l have a 10W panel plugged in permanently unless using the car. Any panel with an output greater than 10W really needs a controller. |

I would think the cig lighter is the better way to go, to avoid wear & tear on the more delicate OBD port, which isn’t really designed for daily use, and being in a more inaccessible position, is much more likely to have pins bent etc when plugging in. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that? |

I wired mine to the main 12v terminal on fuse box in the boot, past the cables through the louvers next to the parcel shelf and stuck the panel to the window with a few suction pads - seems to work well enough even though the window is tinted |

Thank you for all your reply’s, the reason for using the obs port is because that’s what is attached to the end of the wire lol, it’s not an interchangeable one, I was given it by someone who’s partner passed away.
