Mine's turned off as it's too slow to react. I'd be interested in recalibrating it though to see if that improves it. We have it on our X-Trail and on that it is excellent.

Anyone know why all these systems switch off at lower speeds? Is there some regulation governing it? I can't imagine why there would be, but all the cars I've driven with this system turn it off below about 20mph (often just when you need it on narrow country roads).

Any way to change this setting? 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

I always assumed that it’s linked to typically being in a build up area. It would be seriously annoying for people living their to have their homes constant in full beams lit up. If you drive so slowly on such country roads (yup animals I get that around our home) then just use it manually. You should not come across many other cars, and also get plenty of warning if you do.

Mine has the High Beam Assist but i am able to turn it off in 2 ways.

1. Using the menu options in the dash (you can also select driver left or right - still not sure if thats asking if I 'drive' on the left or 'sat on the left' in the car Question )

2. With the dip beam on you see the auto illuminated under the headlight symbols in the dash. Push the left hand stalk away (as if manually operating full beam) and pull it back to normal and you turn the auto off - not sure if it resets itself on restarting the engine though.

I guess turing it off is differernt to diabling or enabling it though. Ash

Is high beam assist standard

On my car when on auto. The lights switch on but you just get the green side light on the dash, or the blue main beam. There is no green dipped.

The afs works on dipped. I don’t see any option to turn high beam assist on either.

Is this a fault or an option I don’t have.

Thanks
James

As stated by others, your car would need to have been specified with the Vision Assist Pack, so you'd also have headlights that turn with the steering wheel above 10mph or whatever minimum speed it is, as well as 360 camera's and blind spot monitoring.

If you do have it, then scroll through the menu on the instrument cluster and you'll find an option to enable or disable it. Thumbs Up

My Vogue SE with a load of other exta's had it, and to be honest I had it turned off. It was hopelessly slow to respond and blinded every oncoming driver. Rolling Eyes

My new Volvo has auto main beam / headlights, and with it's mega 'burn every oncoming driver's retina's out' LED lights I also have it turned off, so still crap on a much newer car! Rolling with laughter
