Need to pick your collective brains again guys!!
Is the box on an 07 3.6 TDV8 still as problematic as the early L322 boxes?
Also I'm completely unfamiliar with the engine. What would be the main things to look out for?
Thank you in advance guys.

Been having a trawl through old threads and I see turbos come up. I was under the impression the v6 only has 1 turbo and the v8 has 2?

Hi Paul, they never put a TDV6 in the L322, only the sport and disco had the TDV6. They went to TDV8 from the TD6 in late 2006 which was a 3.6 v8 with twin turbo’s.
The gearbox was also a huge improvement going to the ZF 6 speed which was more up to the job of the L322’s weight.
Reliability wise there’s lots on here about turbos and EGR valves ECT, but if you get a well maintained one and look after it they can be a reliable vehicle. Towing with them is awesome compared to the TD6.
I came from a TD6 to the 3.6 TDV8 which I owned for 5 years and loved it.
I changed the EGR valves at around 100K and the alternator at 130K, other than that was just routine maintenance up to 167K when I traded her in.

The tdv8 box is definitely more reliable than the Gm box in the td6. Not completely problem free, but in general is pretty robust, nice fluid and filter change or a bodsyflush will help prolong life 👍🏻 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Did gearbox filter and oil at 76k on mine. Now on 130k so dropped the fluid and did a basic fluid change last week ( didn't have a filter or time to go the whole hog ). Can feel a difference just through changing the fluid.
