How to Remove RSE Centre Console AV Panel?

Does anyone know how to remove the little panel by the rear seats with the 12V outlets and AV inputs in the centre console?

I want go do a neat little mod where I remove the 3.5mm jack, blank it off on the panel and hide it in the centre console, leading a 3.5mm cable into the arm rest, where it plugs into a bluetooth receiver.

This is a neat little mod someone had done on my old RR, which I want to replicate on the new one for Bluetooth streaming.

Disasemblng the console

FYI - it was an easy job as per the documents. The hardest part is removing the screw that holds the top armrest in place. Its long and needs to have retaining clips removed on both sides.... You can break these and thats not good.

I searched online (YouTube with powerfulukltd) and here to find comments on how to do it.

Make sure you figure that part out (the bolt mentioned above) 2008 HSE B. Grey

So, I had a fiddle tonight.

No need to remove anything other than the bottom cowling and the 3 screws holding the AUX inputs. The unit then drops off and just 2 multi-plugs to remove.

Despite trying to trace the tracks on the PCB and a bit of fiddling with a 3.5mm cable with the end cut, I could not figure exactly which cables on the ribbons are used in order to splice into them.

Unfortunately, after a bit of fiddling, the connections inside the 3.5mm jack are now loose and I need to buy a new module - doh!

So, if you don't have RSE, you're in luck. You can unscrew the unit and there's a little ledge to put it on behind the centre of the arm rest. Then it's just a case of drilling a hole and feeding a 3.5mm cable through.

For RSE, an auto electrician may be able to trace the ribbons and splice in but I couldn't fathom it - trying the L and R feeds from the Jack only resulted in mono high range sounds through the car stereo. I think therefore, the solution is to purchase a 3.5mm cable with a 90 degree end. This will allow the dust cover over the AUX inputs to be closed and, feed the cable under and through the centre console, drilling a small hole for it in the arm rest. This seems the neatest install option with no cable on show. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8
