TDV8 4.4 Air Compressor

Hello , I notice that my suspension compressor starts up every time I start the engine , runs for a couple of minutes then goes off . The car doesn't drop overnight but I'm thinking there must be a leak somewhere ?
Am I concerned over nothing .

Cheers for any help 2011 tdv8 4.4 vogue Santorini black

Mine does the exact same. Can he left for a week and its height doesn't change but will kick in most times it's turned on. I know on my disco 3 the air compressor was rotten and had loads of tiny pinholes and was losing pressure but I don't think it's the cause of it on the range.

As to your OCD, join the club.......

My 15 year old Td6 is still on the original compressor and does the same sometimes, but suspension never drops, and the compressor never runs excessively so seems normal, as said in above posts, don't worry about that.

Enjoy the respite until the next fault arrives..... Rolling with laughter

The compressor tops up an air tank I believe, not the air bags directly. The bags use the air tank, so if they need air the air tank drops pressure and the compressor comes on to top that up, so it may appear it does the bags directly if you are listening.

It’s normal for it to come on and off, but not stay on constantly.

Having left mine on SORN for 5 months my compressor came on and I suspect the tank was nearly empty as I had a normal height only message on dash as i suspect the pump was overheating. Second time it was used no problem. It did the same last lockdown at the beginning of 2020. I intend to service the compressor soon just to be sure. I know you can look at tank manifold pressure as its measured so could do this a number of times after leaving car for a few days.
The tank does supply the bags when they need it but I think only when engine running. You can also disconnect pump as there's a valve that stops tank depressurising

Having monitored the manifold pressure and compressor temperature with the car left for a few days the compressor only kicks in when I demanded a height change, looks like the manifold pressure isn't the tank pressure. Any thoughts?
Also the pump temperature rises to just over 100 deg C when moving from normal to offroad before it has refilled the tank. Is this normal and at what temperature does the overheat alarm get raised ?
