Obviously JLR just write the updates for fun rather than to actually fix real issues?

Tell that to the Toyota owners who lost over 50bhp following an ECU update done at a service Toyota refused to revert them quoting some emission crap as the reason...!! Updates are not always an improvement... Pete __________________________________________________ 2014 L405 Autobiography SDV8 4.4 Loire Blue Ebony interior 2011 L322 Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8 Baltic Blue. Standard IT software updates, check what it's there to fix and if you have that issue then you should be updating. Otherwise as others have said leave well alone. |

This is a forthcoming IIDTool update that is worth doing when released.

I suspect you will find it was still to fix a problem that didn’t involve emissions. I had a 3.0 Vito Sport for a while and every six months another attempt was made via updated firmware to fix the DPF regen as they had made a mechanical screw up when designing the engine installation that then had to be ‘fixed’ in software. |

Thanks guys. It's just this is my first ever FF and still getting used to it. I do know the gearbox was reconditioned 2 years ago before i had it at a nice cost of £2500 but I personally think the gear changes are not as what I expect, it could just be me not being used to it. I am blanking off the egr's when I get time and read on here that should make gear changes more smoother. Hopefully I will be able to do that this weekend weather and time permitting as I work abroad during the week. Clearly I don't want to do anything untoward in killing any ECU's. |
