Retrofit

Can Dual View be retrofitted to a 2012 VSE without too much pain ? If it's just a case of swapping out the head units I'm happy to strip the dash down.

There's a lot of head units on eBay with slightly differing part numbers eg BH42-10E887-RG, AH42-10E887-RA.

Not sure what the difference is between BH and AH, although assuming the R is the model designation and A or H etc the firmware release. usually the later the better.

After a couple of hours of googling, the one I need for my 2012 VSE is BH42-10E887-RG

Bit of a leap of faith to see if the wiring is the same, but if not, I’ll send it back.

Hopefully it’ll be a useful update for those looking to do the same.

The AH version appears to be the earlier 2009 version and the BH was manufactured in 2012, which matches my car build date.

Just need to work out how to strip down the dash to get at the old unit !

When I've tried out dual view on mine, it says on the screen to press TV to switch to dual view which works very well. Not sure if others are the same.

New dual view unit arrived today courtesy of eBay. The screen was typically smudged where fingers have worn away the "protective" coating. I've removed the outer frame, which is 6 small Philips screws and that's revealed the screen in its full entirety.

Some alcohol wipes and a bit of gentle rubbing and the rest of the protective coating has been removed, leaving a nice clean, clear screen.

I've ordered a matte finish, anti glare, iPad screen protector, so will cut that to size and fit and that should provide a much better finish than what was there originally.

Fitting the unit will be a few days away, as it's a dash strip down, but all proceeding to plan so far...
