Hello fellow Range Rover fans!
Thank you all for your input.
I had my MY16 Defender in for some warranty work today and while I waited about an hour for them to sort my car out, I wandered in the showroom.
I couldn’t take my eyes off the brand new SVR they had on show.
We got talking, and I ended up signing on the dotted line.
Now, I guess I’ll be banned from this site from now on!
My thinking was as follows:
New L460 coming out probably in October, buying a FFRR SVAD now would have been too much of a depreciation risk.
Sport will probably be replaced one year later so this gives me another year to see if I like L460 enough (V8 engine, don’t want hybrid and I don’t think I’ll loose too much on the SVR with the cracking deal they did.
So very happy so far with my choice, I’ll probably be back in a “proper “ Range Rover once the new model comes out.

Forget the depreciation, they all depreciate, just enjoy it. Oh, and annoy the neighbours with that exhaust  MY23 D350 HSE

When is the replacement for the L494 due ? I thought it was launched fractionally ahead of the L405 but maybe it was the other way around - they were close though.

Thanks! Exhaust noise is quite subdued actually (which suits me), especially compared to the first gen SVR.

My dealer said FFRR launched first, followed by the new Sport a year after.

You should have gotten the new Defender with the SC V8.

It is at the beginning of its life cycle.

If the rumours are true about 100% BMW engines then buy one now, never been a fan of BMWs especially their styling or owners driving style and engines aren't that special either.

I am being told my deposit for the New Range Rover 2022 is being pushed back as the 2022 model is now apparently the same.

Hello, can someone help me in better understanding what to do. I was told about the new Range Rover (vogue) complete new generation change for the 2022 model, placed a deposit to be one of the first to get it in Toronto in dec2021/ Jan 2022 but today I got an email saying that Land Rover is telling them that the 2022 Model is going to be the (same) design and the new one will be after that...

New model SVR now comes with a GPF (gasoline particulate filter) this kills the noise, just like DPF's do on the Derv models...

I wonder whether it is anything like my wife's BMW M2 Competition. Here 2021 model also has a GPF/OPF system which she quite liked as it isn't as loud as the original generation. But now she's done about 3K miles in it Damn that S55 M Division engine is loud, it seems to get louder by the day. Especially on start up

North America market model years are ridiculous. I wonder whether it is the same for Canada. I mean their 2022 model year normally starts in something ridiculous like June 2021. I really don't get it...

Much better to just refer to the model code opposed to the model year

Yes, the styling and owners make the engines terrible.....

I had the latest 4.4 V8 in a 7 series up until 10 months ago and it’s a cracking engine, powerful, smooth, loves to rev, sounds good (without being shouty like an SVR Sport or F Type R) and on top of all that, it’s amazingly efficient. My 5.1m heavily optioned saloon would easily achieve 40mpg on the motorway and despite being RWD would get to 60mph in just over 4 seconds. The car looked great as well! MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Considering the stellar reputation for reliability that the FFRR's generally have it would be a brave move to buy one of the first new generation L460 models. I would wait until they have ironed out all the bugs, and buy a proven model that has been sorted out. Watching mechanics scratching their heads whilst looking at your new pride and joy would NOT be funny.

As an aside - Referring to DrF's comment about BMW drivers styles, I disagree, from what I have seen this last couple of years, all those twonks are now driving Audi's.
