United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Baltic Blue
2011 TDV8 with completely flat battery

Hi folks,

The car battery is completely dead after weeks of inactivity, and the car is parked with the passenger door right next to a solid wall, seems there is no way to get in and get the battery charged, this car does not have a tow bar fitted so that option is out. Any ideas out there please?

I think if you can get a positive to the starter and an earth somewhere then you could have enough to power the doors to get in. Not sure of a battery charger is the correct thing or another battery. It's been covered on here before, have a search about for it.

If I find it I'll link it for you.

And buy a Ctek or similar and leave the connections so you can get to them. Cheers
Richard

Thank you rjff,

I canโ€™t believe that the only physical keyhole is located on the passenger side! Will have to install a charge lead to the grill for future issues.

You can always charge via the towbar sockets if yours is fitted with towing electrics. BMW i3 Electric Car

Nothing stopping you fitting a 13 pin electrics socket on its own without a towbar and use that in future. I have one and never tow! Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

yes towing socket is the way to go . I also have a weather proof charging socket on the windscreen plastic trim near the wipers,
so both bases covered as these range rovers are Censored when it comes to electrical problems

Thanks for the info and ideas gents, mobile mechanic was able to slip in through the passenger door and open bonnet, he was way slimmer than me ๐Ÿ˜€. new Lion AGM battery fitted from Euro Car Parts (just north of ยฃ200) and external charge lead fitted and left dangling from grill (temporarily). She really turns over fast now! Engine warning light is now on but it drives fine, will have to see if it sorts itself out or if I need to get her reset. Great forum ๐Ÿ‘

That's great that you've got in and got her going again. Smile

If you've fitted a Lion battery, for gods sake don't loose the receipt, you'll need it from my previous experience!

Thanks DHallworth but Iโ€™m all out of bad luck now, nothing but good luck on the horizon....That and Iโ€™m thinking of jumping ship to an L405 after this pandemic eases, despite not liking the shape. As long as it last that long then Iโ€™m happy ๐Ÿ˜€
