td6 top hose possibly numpty question of the day.

Hi Sorry in advance if this is the Numpty question of the day.

I am trying to change my top hose, I have removed the clip from the radiator and removed the connector no problem

I have removed the pin from the engine side but will this little fecker come off.

It looks like the stubb from the the engine is plastic so I have been very careful to not exert side ways movement. I can get it to come forward approx 1mm and I have been spraying penetrating oil in case the o ring is dry.

It feels as though I have another clip I have not released yet. Does it pull straight off or does it have to rotate 90 degrees before being removed.

Thanks in Advance

Its the same type of connector as the radiator end - but apparently the internal O-ring sticks itself to the outlet pipe and so is difficult to remove - I had the same problem trying to remove that connection when doing the thermostat mod. The connector would move a millimetre or two but that was it. It's easy to cut the retaining ring round the hose off with a Dremel and replace with a Jubilee clip (so replace the hose but not that end connector).

Hi Thanks for the reply, I thought I was going daft or something. Thumbs Up

It is the thermostat mod that I am doing. I am not going to attempt today now as I have to collect my dremel and if I dont finish today I dont fancy doing it in the snow tomorrow.

Probably next weekend now.

Did you have the issue with the temp gauge between 10 & 11 o'clock?
I am looking forward to having a toastier car a little bit quicker in the mornings.

Yep, I was doing the thermostat mod as well. Before, the needle would just get a tiny bit past the blue. Now sits at 12 o'clock. Wink
