In-car Tool Kit?

Hi Everyone,

I'd like to make an emergency tool kit to keep in my L322. What I call an RSR Kit for my "Road-Side-Repair Kit."

Here's the list I have so far. Anything I should add?

  • Jumper cables
  • Needle nose pliers
  • Slip joint pliers
  • Vise Grips
  • Electrical tape
  • Ratchet
  • Breaker bar
  • Socket extension
  • Sparkplug socket
  • Sockets: 10mm through 17mm
  • Gloves
  • Rags
  • Tarp to lay down on ground
  • Utility knife
  • Adjustable wrench
  • Hammer
  • Flat blade and Philips screwdrivers
  • OBDII reader (Gap-Diagnostics IID)
  • Grime Boss or other type of hand cleaner
  • Flashlight
  • Reflective roadside triangles
  • Ice/Snow scraper
  • First aid kit
  • Tire pressure gauge

Thanks!

There will be other replies for additions but a frw things I always put in are:
- a roll of the silicon seal-sealing tape. This is brilliant for split hoses
-a decent tow strap/rope with shackles.
- a jumper battery pack. I now use the smaller ones, available off the Net.
- a proper jack!!
Just my two-cents worth but these have helped me out no-end!!

Cheers,
Matt

It is a well known fact that all you need is

WD-40
Duct tape
hammer

If it doesn't move and it should, use the WD-40. If it moves and it shouldn't, use the duct tape. If either doesn't work, use the hammer

Haylands,

What I always heard is all you need is a hammer and a condom. If something breaks, hit it with the hammer. If that doesn't fix it, f*@k it. Rolling with laughter

Sorry, I couldn't resist!

In truth, the ONLY thing you need is a cell phone and a credit card. But I'm hoping to be a little more prepared than that.

If you're packing all that, it's probably worth adding a 22mm socket for removing the wheels

IIDTool
and maybe heatshrink self solder butt splice electrical connectors (and heat gun or lighter). Particularly useful if you get the Adaptive Dynamics fault.

I believe the Adaptive Dynamics fault is only an issue on MY '10+. Not on my '09.

Thanks!

I'd second that, everyone should carry a roll of that stuff. Brilliant and has got me out of a fix when a coolant hose has gone bang.
