It would only be black after 100 miles on a diesel, that oil is very dark imo for a petrol engined car after a relatively low mileage.... I'd expect the next change to be a lot clearer if its not I'd be a bit concerned... |

I’d expect diesel oil to be black after 500 miles, petrol oil I’d expect to still be golden after 500 miles.

I wouldn't be too concerned - the block has essentially been open to the elements for a good while and with the changes in temperature and humidity there will be lots of little bits of corrosion forming - which the heat has lifted off the surface and dropped into the oil, the oil pump has then done a fine job of reducing it to sub-micron particles which are now attached to the oil molecules. It may take another oil & filter change to get it all out but if there's no significant silvery bits in the filter or drained oil (I'd expect some, TBH, given what you've replaced) on the next change, then it's nothing to worry about. |

We made it 6 weeks without a fault which given the amount of work done and the amount of things taken apart and put back together again, I’m quite happy with!

The plug on the rear left height sensor was damaged when I went to unplug it and it was held together with a cable tie. I replaced the cable tie when I rebuilt it but hadn’t pulled the cable tie tight enough. I meant to try and get a plug and tails from a breaker so that I could repair it but forgot.
