That's the symptoms that my car was exhibiting when the rear diff was noisy.

If you need a transfer box, Rob at Duckworths sorted me out and it was fairly straight forward to fit

Yes remember seeing that in your earlier post probably is the diff might replace them both I have used GoS as you mentioned before for the p38 so might see what they have as the diffs are easy to swap out
Still no news from Atlantic ?

I had a used transfer box from GoS but when you got up to motorway speeds the bearings in it really weren't happy. They were great in refunding me but it did mean that I had to strip it all again which was when I'd had enough and ordered a new one.

My rear diff was rebuilt by D&A Steering in Birmingham. It was 1/3rd of the cost of a recon one from LR and it's D&A that recon them for Land Rover so was worth a punt.

Nothing from them yet, I'll give them till around 8pm this evening and will give them another call.

Not sure how you got on with finding cams, but I've just spoken to my mate, ex LR Mastertech who is now an independent about where you'd maybe find such things and he suggested his engine builder (he races those Bowler thingies)

His suggestion was to speak to Roland at ACR.

I will give the boys in D&A a call might replace both or have them rebuilt as think it will be a year before I buy an SV dynamic

Just heard back from Atlantic British. They've got the camshaft and can ship it to the UK.

They're charging $200USD just for shipping which I thought was expensive until I tried to get quotes to ship it myself. Cheapest quote I got was $235 with a declared value of $50! Last time I tried shipping to the states it was nothing like that price!

It’s a thought - is there anyone out there who modifies these engines RR or Jag for motorsport or Restomods. I found the cheapest new injectors I could get for my son’s Fiesta ST a while back was from Caterham as they strip them out for their 7 engines.

I’ve not found anything along those lines when Googling unfortunately.

The cams are also unique to the Land Rovers, the Jaguars use different cams.

If I don’t hear anything from the 2 places above I’ll order the one from the US as I really want this car back together ASAP now.

I've got most things from Bilt Hamber.

Deox C - Mix it with water, submerse things and the rust is treated whilst submersed.
Deox Gel - Plaster it on thick with a brush, cover things in clingfilm and wash off with soapy water.
Hydrate 80 - Paint on metal once you've removed the loose rust and it cures the rust.
Zinc Corrosion Paint - Spray onto the rust treated surfaces. (Screwfix)
Epoxy Mastic - Mix the tin incredibly well, I used a bent wire in the drill, add the hardener and mix again, then paint on.

On the subframe and wishbones I applied the epoxy direct to bare metal as they'd been blasted. On the underside of the car I used the zinc paint before applying the mastic.

Until starting this I was very much in the same boat as you. This is the first thing I've really spent any time on doing rust work.

Thankfully, none of our P38's have had anything more then surface rust so I've never had to do similar works to them.
