Parasitic Battery drain culprits

Hi, which circuits are the usual culprits( if any) for battery drain while the car is locked, so I can check those, first rather than laboriously having to pull every fuse? Thankyou. Thumbs Up 2008 L322 Vogue 3.6 TDV8 in Java Black with parchment and Navy interior. 125000mls.

Haven't got the fuse references to hand, but I believe the usual suspects include;
- Audio Amp (gets wet and causes a short if the boot leaks)
- Hedgehog/"FSR" or "Final Stage Resistor" which is the resistor ladder that adjusts the fan speed from high down to low, this breaks down and causes a load.
- Headlight washers, when the motors get tired they don't park properly and cause a parasitic drain.

One of these has just turned up and I'll be spending the weekend trying to sort out my parasitic drain with it too! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Shefii-Tester-Det...08CXK6NTQ/

I once had a constant drain which was finally tracked down to corrosion inside the tow sockets.

I had FSR failure on mine but not such a mystery to diagnose, it was making so much noise the neighbour knocked to say it was keeping him awake.

I didn't get around to checking over the weekend, but I just walked past the car this evening and notice the screen (drivers info screen) was on!

Nothing showing on the screen, but the backlight is on and you can see it brightening and dimming in response to the light level changing.

So that's probably the culprit of my mystery battery drain found! Smile

Yeah, have a look at this model too, it does the small "mini blade fuse" that you get in the later fuseboxes!

If you place a stamp sized piece of tissue paper over the little grill containing a tiny fan for the HVAC you should find it is held in place by the suction of the fan, when your turn off the engine and lock the car, after approx 15 mins the tissue should fall off indicating the fan has, shut down therefore no suction, if it remains in place then its likely the fan is, still running albeit silently and drawing current.. 2008 L322 Vogue 3.6 TDV8 in Java Black with parchment and Navy interior. 125000mls.

I went with the current meter, luckily, as the drain comes back after a few hours so the tissue probably wouldn't have helped! Smile
