England 2006 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.2 SC V8 Zambezi Silver
Suspension U0416-86 (26) Invalid data received from vehicle

Morning all,

So yesterday evening drove out in my 2005 4.2 SC and got 1/2 mile down the road when I got the 'bong' and messages on the dash stating 'HDC inactive' / 'Suspension lowering'. All the lights went off the suspension control button to.

Pulled over and switched it off and then on and again, drove another 1/2 mile and the same happened. Once home I scanned it with the IID Tool and found the following under Suspension -

RLM-Suspension

U0416-86 (26) Invalid data received from vehicle dynamics control module - Bus signal/message failure - signal is invalid
( on 25-06-2022 21:13:49 at 81825 mi )
- Test Failed This Monitoring Cycle
- Pending
- Test Failed Since Last Clear

The other faults noted were -

0x30 Air quality sensor line fault (I have a new part coming for this)

0x7 Front centre left ultrasonic sensor (New Sensor waiting to be fitted)

RDUM-Remote Driver

VDM-Vehicle Dynamic

C1B00-64 ( 08 ) Steering angle sensor - Algorithm based failure - signal plausibility failure

- Confirmed

I've cleared the codes via the IID, carried out a 'Battery Hard Reset' and had the car on my CTEK charger over night in case the battery was low - its a new VARTA battery fitted in Dec' 2021 along with a new Alternator though.

Does anyone have any ideas - from the googling I've done so far I'm thinking ABS / Speed sensor on one of the wheels - how to check the ABS Sensor on each wheel ?

This TSB has proved pretty useful -

The (26) was also (A7) in another scan of the fault codes. Any tips on what to look for in the IID tool live values would be appreciated.

cheers Gavin

Update...

So.... just disconnected the CTEK after its been on overnight and went out for a quick drive around the block... all good. No Bongs/errors at all. I also found the 'Speed input Circuit' for the wheels which reported the speed fine as I was driving (will keep looking to see if there are any other settings regarding ABS that can monitored..)

The SC was only driving the day before to get the air con charged up... odd.

This faulting at nearly the same time may have an impact.

C1B00-64 ( 08 ) Steering angle sensor - Algorithm based failure - signal plausibility failure

Worth re-calibrating the steering angle sensor with the IID, see if that helps....

Other than that it seems it's fixed itself... Thumbs Up Pete

Hi Pete,

Yes, I did that last night when I got home but forget to mention. It just asked me to position the steering wheel dead centre and then ignition off/on again.. didn't seem to do anything else like move the wheel in/out but it completed the routine successfully.

I guess as you say its fixed itself ... until the next time ... Laughing Gavin

It just needs to know where straight ahead is, make sure the steering wheel is straight as you drive in a straight line, if it's off centre the fatty thinks you are always cornering... Thumbs Up Pete
