The best LR experience centre

I had my RR serviced yesterday and Stratstone treated me to two LR experience half day vouchers. They then gave me another one when I picked the car up! Result! Thumbs Up I now have to decide which one to go to. I've been to Skipton before and it was great....

Anyone got an opinion on this. I'm in Manchester so reasonable travel from there would be ideal. There are a few within range: Liverpool, Cheshire and Skipton, West mids wouldn't be out either (if it was worth the trip).

Ay ideas/ experiences Very Happy My Previous RR's!

Eastnor is great, but how about making it a weekend away and going to the Dunkeld LRE north of Perth, the setting is absolutely stunning, and for that one best to upgrade to the full day experience as they take you out onto the shooting estate that is part of the Atholl Estates in the afternoon. It is also on the site of a Hilton Resort hotel so decent accommodation is on the door step, with everything for the family members who aren't going on the LRE. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

in the early days when it was Stakis Dunkeld House Hotel i used to do 4 x 4 instruction/demo's on the site - lived in Dunkeld

also used to do 'runs' onto Atholl Estates and for the more adventurous up to Rannoch Moor

sadly the hotel is a shadow of its former glory when it was owned by Mrs Miller and her sister - its was a true country house hotel for shooting/stalking/fishing fraternity

if your a salmon angler/Hardy guy then you will remember Mrs Miller son, Jess - did quite a few salmon fishing videos and wrote the definitive book on the history of House of Hardy reels

go in the bar at night in your muddy breeks and there would be Labradors sprawled all over the place Smile

Stakis at least tried to maintain the tradition but when they took bookings for 'pikey' weddings it was the beginning of the end

also used to shoot sporting clays there at least twice a week when Ian Marsden was the resident shooting instructor

unless its changed - the best traditional country house hotel in Perthshire is Ballathie House

i lived about 50 yds from the Royal - and i agree

the Atholl i gather has been remodelled - so cannot comment but it was a dump!

the 'best' during my time in Dunkeld was the Merryburn Hotel in Birnam when Jack and Sheena Murray had the place - most of my clients stayed there inc the ones who could buy Dunkeld House from their spare change!

family owned and what i call a sporting hotel - none of the crap in changing for dinner and dogs welcomed

not forgetting the Birnam Hotel when Jack had it (came back from working in the far east) - but that changed hands and went for the corporate image! - inc banning most locals Laughing

Eastnor everytime Smile

But I am a little biased...

But you never know what you might see under testing or whom you might bump into at one of the primary testing facilities used by LR .....

I was given a voucher. I wanted to do a Saturday otherwise I had to take a day off work.
But it seems LR do not release days further than 1 month ahead for the vouchers, and by then the Saturdays are normally already booked.

I have also found the call centre you try to book through completely painful in the amount of information they need, and the lack of intelligence they show. (They are always complete polite.) For example, for the experience, why would they need your date of birth "for security purposes". I refused. Too many people want to collect too much data on you these days.

In taking my name, I had to spell a very simple word for them. They then asked me if that was "Mr." I have a very deep bass voice. At this point, having been on the phone with them for a couple of minutes answering questions I considered could have no relevance to an off roading experience (please someone tell me, why would they need your date of birth for security purposes.....), I gave up.

So I haven't been on an off road experience. And I probably wont be bothering. I attitude towards LR is becoming neutral - and their dealers have eroded the good will LR had in me.

I would suggest it was for telephone security purposes as an additional question to verify your bona fides if you have to phone them again, it would also be used for insurance purposes 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

asking for 'dob' seems reasonable - as Tim says for insurance purposes but also to build 'profiles' of RR ownership

i'm sure if your 'age sensitive' they would forgo that question?

anyway your 'dob' is on so many databases its hardly an issue?

seems to me that you are 'making a mountain out of a molehill'?

as regards people collecting too much data - you are using a computer and i bet you have a mobile phone/online banking/phone line/pay online by credit card/are a member of internet forums/drive a car - you get my drift?
