Scrubbed outside all tyres>

Hey All

All four of my tyres but especially the fronts have scrubbed on the outside edge to the point just noticed cords on the front nearside, centre and inside of the tread over 4mm still and all good its just the last 4cm on the outside edges.

I have it booked in for 4 new tyres on Friday and 4 wheel alignment, anything else that could cause this?

Ensure all suspension bushes are ok or the adjustment will be worthless
Make sure they put it into Tight Tolerance Mode
Fill tank to at least 3/4 full iirc

Mine had tyres on like that when I bought it, not to the cord but bald on the edges. Only thing is they were winter tyres, and when I went to a tyre place for an alignment he reckoned it wouldn't help, as the tyres are softer and the car is heavy. Said if folk press on they will wear like that over time. I was a bit sceptical. Put 4 new Pirelli’s on, the ones it had when new, not winter, and no issues years later.

I know your tyres prob not winter ones, but I was still surprised what happened.

Fronts is usually enthusiastic cornering Whistle

Some tyres are more susceptible than others - on the L322 Conti's seemed the worst offender, although great on the L405.

Have the tyres been rotated at all, as wear on the rears is less common, though alignment might cause it.

That sounds like the front tracking is out (toeing in) & the Fronts have been swapped with the backs, but as it's still out, they have worn the same way.
Very unusual for all four tyres to wear like that at the same time & sounds like its a long way out to wear down to the cords Shocked

When they carryout the alignment, the technician should spot any worn bushes.
