There is an oil extraction tube on the 4.4''s fitted to the 322.

It's on the offside front, between the airbox and cylinder head. It's plugged by a small black plastic bayonet at the top of the tube which was presumably where the dipstick would have gone.

If you have no reversing lights, don’t rule out both bulbs blown.
The elements are very fragile when hot, and slamming the lid breaks them.

Fuse number 12 changed, bingo we have 2 reverse lights ( for the time being )
Don't know what caused the fuse to blow though. RR owner

Hi Everyone... Hope ye might know anything about this..

Is is possible the digital oil gauge can give a false reading?

I had a cracked inlet manifold and was leaking oil.. I've since replaced the 4 of them and I topped up the oil as it was showing low..

Drove it around 250 miles and now its showing min again (I put in 1 litre and it makes 0 difference..

Now I'm afraid to drive it.. Gonna get mechanic to take all oil out and measure it.

(white grey smoke when starting engine that covers the yard 😬... Goes away after 10 seconds... Guessing this was oil in the intake from the leak.

Hello Zebedee

Hello Zebedee
I live in South Korea and have L405 TDV8 4.4 Y2014.
The engine oil level checked by the instrument panel is not intermittently displayed in my car.
So I searched to purchase a dipstick that can be done manually, and I saw Zebedee's writing here.
Could you please upload the dipstick on eBay?
I'd like to check the engine oil level
I can't speak English, so I used a translator.
Please understand.
I'll be waiting for the reply.

Update:

I believe I'm closing in on a solution for this:
- The small diameter bass guitar string seems to work just right and better than strimmer wire.
- 0.6mm heat-shrink cut into rings then heated to fix onto the guitar string are just right and don't move.
- High level seems to be 73cm from the end of the oil extraction tube and low level is 78cm (I'm going to continue to test levels when I find different 4.4s).
- It's important to warm the car, then let the oil settle for a couple of hours before taking a measurement. Only the first reading is accurate.
- Let me know if you need a dipstick made - I might put a couple on eBay.
- I'll continue to work on the canister concept to house the sensor in a separate unit outside the engine.

No, no trick.

The thinest bass guitar string is definately best, but the next size up also worked when I tried it. There are some quite tight right hand angles so I suspect yours is getting caught up on one of those. Did you file down the end so there is no sharp bit at the bottom? Current:
