First thing to do is get the fault codes read. Once they have been read you will have an idea of why it's in reduced performance mode. I would not trust a garage who simply said it's got metal in the oil without having the fault codes read.

I would assume you’ve been referred to Simon Huntingdon at wigton. Simon and his his staff know there range rovers so should be able to give you a good idea of cost. He may be able to source a new engine or rebuild your existing one. 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

As above, I wouldn’t do anything until you have had a full diagnosis carried out by a trusted Land Rover specialist.
