Soft Close door not woking. Common? DIY fix?

The Soft Close driver's door on my 2015 FFRR hasn't worked since I purchased the vehicle second-hand. Is this a common issue and is there an easy way to repair it?

I had same problem with mine when picked up
apparently they disable the drivers door in transit - there is a plug & socket in the rear by the spare wheel that needs plugging together again - did mine only took 2 mins
this is the link from rangerovers.net

last pictures show location - the plug is under the black tape

hope this helps various other LR's this one is still the best

Top tip - fixed! Hard to imagine that the previous owner went 4+ years without the soft close working and didn't take it to LR for repair Rolling Eyes

Stan, I would say this topic needs to move to Wiki as it seems to be a common problem.

P.s was trying to find the problem myself where spent 5 days to trace power leads into the boot section. And only 2 minutes to Google this problem...

Thank you! I just brought home my MY 2016 AB and the soft close doors didn’t work. Two minutes and all works perfectly. 😁

Great when you find an easy fix! Thumbs Up

Twisted Evil For those who end up here and it’s not the solution, check out the recent YouTube video from LR Time, where Christian Bow down addresses a more complex cause of the same issue, but you’re going to have to take a brave pill! Rolling with laughter “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

I know. So happy. It’s hard to believe someone left it that way for 9 years. I just watched that same video as well and was holding my breath. I’d sooner qualify for the space program that successfully complete that repair. Mine is identical to Christian’s except mine is a 2016. I love their channel. They, and Margot Robbie, helped me name my RR. I was thinking of “the queen” when I saw the Wolf of Wall Street clip from when Jordan meets the Dutchess of Bay Ridge. Bam! “The Dutchess”.

FWIW, you DO have to qualify for the space programme to complete that repair. Shocked

I can imagine NASA calling Christian if they get an unfixable problem on the Space Station.
The challenge will be getting his lathe up there….. Whistle “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Unbelievable!! My2015 AB had it about a month. Drivers door soft close didn't work. I Thought it can't be that. 10 minutes later plug connected in the wheel well, fixed. Thank you for the information 🙏
