Satnav/TV/Radio Monitor -- Blank Screen

Just come back from a weeks hols, went to start the RR and the Satnav/TV/Radio Monitor screen is blank

Its a 2002 Vogue, when i switch the ignition on the system works, i can hear the radio perfectly change stations etc........its the screen, it stays blank, nothing showing on it at all except a change in the back light.

When i first started it it did flicker for a while then blank..........

Ive checked the fuse, done the battery dis con re con bit, removed and reconnected the wiring plugs to the major components looking for dirty connections but still a blank screen.........

Anyone have a fix, cant find a tread on here regarding this..........

Probably the actual sat nav unit in the back. It's going to be a cd based mk3 - search here for the positive experiences people have had by upgrading it to a mk4 unit. It's a lot quicker and better in every way.

Well after a process of elimination starting with the components in the rear of the car I have found what was casing the blank screen

It was the blue plug socket of the TV Tuner.....moisture must have been getting in over the years and caused corrosion to one of the pins which was broken off in the socket when I inspected all the connections.......I was able to prove the screen was then active by plugging the blue plug from the TV tuner directly into the Sat Nav unit and hey presto screen was up and running albeit not having the TV on the menu as I had bypassed it temporarily

Its a shame the TV Tuner Blue plug cannot reach the Sat Nav CD unit when its in its mount as I would have been happy to eliminate the TV from the circuit so I have bought a second hand analogue unit for 50 to get things connected back as it should be so the screen and functions can be used.............

most sat nav/radio problems stem from water in the near side rear compartment...have you fitted a 'water shedder' yet...its a plastic bag thingy to keep water/moisture away from the electronics.. ... - .- -.
