Morning all,

My l322 doesn't have the FBH and it's something that I wish it did have.

I have been thinking about installing a diesel heater in the compartment for the FBH with an aux diesel tank also, I managed to work out where everything goes apart from the actual heating ducts.

I want to get the hot air to come out of the existing vents in the l322 but struggling to find the best way to tap into existing duct work, any got any info or ideas for this?

On the diesel the fbh heats the water in the cooling system and has its own circ pump so runs through the normal heater system and uses the fan on slow to warm the car if that helps, think I have seen somewhere that even some petrol models had the fbh.

Yes you can. I have one on my 2004. Factory fitted tho!

I wouldn't have thought it was physically possible to get air ducts from a diesel heater into the car to connect with the existing distribution system.

I have actually found some instructions in the past on how to retrofit an original FBH but it's very very labour intensive and very expensive. Greg R

But how cool to have a proper FBH and no additional tank or cutting into vents etc.

There is no factory installed fbh loom on petrol models? Only on the cars ordered with fbh?

Thinking about this, if you wish to fit an aftermarket diesel heater why does it have to be connected to the existing system. Surely all you need to do is get the warm air duct(s) into the car in a suitable position, terminate it in a grille(s) and thereby blow warm air into the car. Lot of space underneath the car to run duct(s) to suitable positions.

That's works to be fair, I will have a look see were I could get to ducts into the car. To be fair all it would need is on in each front footwell, warm air rises so footwells would work. Greg R

Does the heater unit also have a return air duct or is it fresh air only?

Return to unit or fresh air, it comes with an intake duct that can go anywhere. Greg R
