Looks a lot like remote park heater remote. Warms your car nice and toasty before you get in it. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

It is for the fuel burning heater. If the battery in the fob is OK, press it within range of your car, the green light should start to flash. If the conditions are right i.e. it's cold, you have more than 1/4 tank of diesel and your battery is OK the heater will start up. Nice when the windows are iced up to walk outside 20 minutes later to a warm car and de-iced windows. BMW i3 Electric Car

Instructions are in your vehicle manual under FBH (fuel burning heater)

When you try it, hold down the On button until you see the green led on the remote start to flash. Just briefly clicking the button won't work (assume its a safeguard feature to help prevent accidental operation)

For it to work, the conditions required include sufficient fuel level (1/4 tank?) sufficient battery level and the temp below a certain level (to warrant warming) or above a certain level (to warrant some fresh air circulation) That's my understanding anyway.

go into your screen menu - you should have ventilation and park heating options. if heating is grey/shaded then it's not fitted.

The receiver unit is in the rear (Right?) of the boot. search on here for pics etc. there is lots.

Just for your info, you do have an FBH fitted (all diesels do to get the engine up to temp) but not all have the park heat receiver fitted. you could also check your build sheet on TOPIX.

I press and hold the on button, green light flashes and goes out, nothing seems to happen, should the green light stay on if its working?
Where is the heater located and what does it look like?
I am assuming it is fuel fired so should make a noise while running

Green light flashes whilst it’s working.

It’s located under the battery, in the wheel arch area. Need to take out wheel arch liner for access.

The exhaust comes out at the bottom of the wheel arch.

It is fuel driven, so sounds like a small jet when running.

Try the pairing sequence again. Requires a fuse in boot removing and replacing with a button press sequence. Can't remember exactly what it is. Search function on here is invaluable Thumbs Up Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

To pair the remote

ensure you have a good battery properly installed in the remote
remove fuse 16 (5amp) in the rear off side fuse box
replace fuse and within 5 seconds press the OFF button on the remote for at least 1 second and release

to confirm if successful push the OFF button and red light will be continuous
if it is intermittent the pairing failed

Oh, and mine just needs the ON pushing and releasing to operate the FBH.

There's a full description of the FBH in the WM in the Wiki, climate section, and as DrRob says lots in search on here.

When you start the car on a cold morning, (without using the remote) stick your head under the rear * and you should hear a click at about 1 second intervals that increases after a minute or so to about 2 per second. That's the FBH pump running. It does so to assist in warm up time.

* the car's, not yours Confused Cheers
Richard
