No such thing as a stupid question in my book. We all learn through asking questions. I knew nothing about these cars when I got my first one 10 years ago. Now I can help a little bit thanks to the voluminous knowledge of the members here.

Did they do a high pressure smoke test? If not then tell them to do one. It could well be a split inlet manifold. They are plastic and there’s lots on the web ref the 3.0L jag engines having quite a few instances of them splitting under pressure.

It’s a big job to change. Around 6-8 hours I think. Plus there are other parts that need to be swapped (injector lines etc as they are one use only). Cost is around c. £1600 in UK I believe.

Dolphinboy, not sure if it was high preassure but they did a smoke test, thats how they found the air leak from the back of the engine. They suspected something with EGR but they need to remove the inlet manifold to have a closer look.

Double check it has the 4 updated, tougher intake hoses. Two either side of the doughnut. Look in my gallery to see them. Flimsy originals can split and leak. Easy job. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Thanks Rob, I will probably take it to an indy to have it checked as LR here in Sweden charge ridiculous prices...

I know there are old threads on here and I´ve tried to go through them but does anyone have an estimate of time needed to change either just the 4 pipes/hoses or worst case the whole inlet manifold if cracked?

Same question goes for fixing the oil cooler gaskets and are these two jobs that are done at the same time while things have been taken apart? RR Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - 11

You say you are in Sweden.. your location is given as Amsterdam Shocked

As above, time for inlet manifold change is 6-8 hrs and costs c. £1600. Deffo get the o rings changed at the sameness time.

Changing the plenum pipes x 4 is easy, self do job. 1-2 hours.

@Dolphinboy, I live in Sweden since 6 months back but I still work in Amsterdam so car is a little but back and forth. At the moment it´s in Sweden.

By o rings you mean the ones at the back ogf the V as per this thread? https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic35977.html

Lets hope I dont have to replace the entire inlet manifold but only hoses...

Earliest time available at LR specialist is March 2nd so will kust have to wait and see.

Are these jobs that require experience/expertise on these engines or could I hand it in to any mechanic in your opinion? RR Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - 11

Any good mechanic should be able but anyone with experience of Landrovers would be best. I would advise using genuine parts (unless someone can argue otherwise?).

Right, just had my car back from the LR dealer having had a red dpf light come on and not able to clear - had rear sensor replaced. They couldn’t force regen the dpf (they got lower soot readings but the engine Ecu failed to recognise the lower reading and it remained in restricted power with red light on.)

LR dealer suggested getting the dpf cleaned to get a soot reading lower than 28.5 so they could force regen (£95 a pop + vat)

Took it to a terraclean franchise (performance engineering company) who did it for £180 + vat. They also cleared all the red lights and had the soot level down to 1.9g of soot. it has run fine since and soot levels rose to 5.99 over the next 20-30 miles but had a motorway run for 50 miles the other day and plugged the IID in for the trip. The car started doing its own regens along the way at around 350 degrees so it’s back to normal operation again (was failing to initiate Normal regens before)

So....have been driving the car for a couple of weeks now in waiting for an indy specialist to take it on March 2nd.

Intermittent yellow RP light but drives fine.

Yesterday I accidentally revved it over 2.000 rpm and straight away the red restricted performance came on. Made it a few miles home and the "whining noise" was back. Turned it off and left it for an hour. Turned it back on and all wanring lights gone but car barely drives. It´s like the car i "choking" and get very little power...

Trying to find a local mechanic who can come round with a fault reader...otherwise it´s flat bed to a garage : / RR Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - 11

Try starting then stopping the engine several times. Some faults persist until a specific number of error-free starts have occurred.

GraemeS, the thing is that it started up again without any warning lights, also didnt come on while driving.

I only drove a few hundred yards as I noticed something was definitely wrong : /

hhmmmm. The second turbo comes "on" when the revs get to 2500 or above. your power loss at around 2000 rpm could be something to do with your pipework for the turbos having a fault?

@dolphinboy, the secondary turbo was my thought as well as the car has been running fine for two weeks when I keep it below 2.000 rpm...

As per earlier in the thread there is an air leak somewhere in the rear...probably very stupid of me to have revved it yesterday Sad RR Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - 11
