DIY aircon top up

Well ordered the stuff all arrived this morning
3 cans of gas
Hose and gauge
Stop leak
Well located the lp port top left of engine bay near the windscreen
Checked pressure it was low so I put in a can of gas to build up pressure following the instructions
Next went in the leak seal couldn't find a visible leak so was thinking dry seals then following the instructions added 2 more cans ( only 200 ml can I think ) got the pressure up to about 40 psi and low and behold ice cold air
I will see how this goes for a next weeks and update the post
Not a hard job pretty easy in fact
My reason for the diy fix is I couldn't get booked in for a regas because of my work shift pattern
And if it's this quick and easy about 30 mins it will be part of my yearly service
Thumbs Up henda

I re-gassed my Td6 in May myself after I changed the air condenser out. Really easy job just keep an eye on the psi. Gas was about £50 from Halfords (was looking for a groupon but none about at the time). If just doing a top up the can should be good for 2 or 3 cars.
Lovely and ice cold think it’s about 2-3C when running! 2004 Autobiography TD6 Java Black

ATS are only charging £59 for air con recharge around here, don't know about other areas, and if it has a leak and won't take the charge then you don't pay. 2010 3.6TDV8 Stornoway Grey/ Black interior - gone

I'll second the route that Dr Rob took.

My A/C worked when I bought the FF but not as well as it should.

Local specialist (as opposed to a "Quickfords" type outfit charged £60 which included ;

1) Initial diagnostics.
2) Sanitise.
3) Evacuate existing gas.
4) Pressure test (& make sure it holds).
5) Refill exact amount of correct gas.
6) Test run for 15minutes.

Also, the specialists tend to be mobile & come to you. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

Groupon were doing a deal at £39 with ATS, if it's finished Kwik-fit do it all for £59, same thing pressure test, leak check and refill, saves the guesswork

About the same as a trained air-conditioning engineer charges (one who does not fit tyres).

Good luck with any Quickfords type outfits - past experience means none of my vehicles ever go there - not even for tyres (as it happens one of them jacked a vehicle of mine up using the floor pan !) 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

Local car aircon place charges £50 and have knowledge on just about every car. It's so cheap as to be not worth bothering with DIY or untrained Halfords type places with the only ability to top up.
If anyone needs in the north west Kent area, I can recommend Aircon Direct in Ebbsfleet.
